Jan 5 @ 10:00 am – 12:00 pm
Mindful Eating and Living with Marlow Shami - SOLD OUT! @ A.B. Ceder Room | Litchfield | Connecticut | United States

The food of life is not only found on our plates (or bag of take-out) but also within five integral life areas. Sustenance is found within the quality of our rest, companionship, novelty, exercise, and outdoor time in nature.

How you fulfill your unique needs depends on understanding what floats your boat! You are one of eight billion unique people living on this beautiful planet. Our consumer culture preaching one size fits all makes discovering what gives or dissipates our life energies a challenge. Why not turn the challenge into a game of detection. Mindfulness, the current term for an age-old wisdom practice, is key.

Marlow will give a short illustrated talk delving into the five life sustaining “food” groups, guide you on a nature-wisdom based activity, and complete the journey with a special guided meditation designed to relax, inform, and inspire.

10:00 a.m. – 12:00 p.m., A. B. Ceder Room, Members: FREE Non-members: $5.00, Pre-registration and pre-payment are required.

Ceder Room, The opening reception is free but please register by calling 860-567-0857 or register HERE!

About Pat Morris: I am a wildlife artist, native of the state of Connecticut. I began my art career in the 1970’s, focusing mainly on pet portraiture. By 1980 I was also painting wildlife, in particular the wolves that I had come to know in my association with a wolf ambassador program here in Connecticut. I have continued through the years to enjoy the challenge of the depiction of animals, both wild and domestic, in my artwork. I welcome commissions; I have been doing pet portraits for about 40 years and can paint anything you like on a feather as well!

I work primarily in pastel but also in acrylic and oil. I am a self-taught artist; my ability to ‘capture’ life on paper, feathers, birch bark and other canvases is a humbling gift. Nature provides me with not only my inspiration, but also its own canvas! My inspiration is drawn upon a lifetime of observation in the woods and natural areas of the world, where I have been fortunate enough to catch glimpses of the wildlife that find their way into my paintings. The balance and harmony of the natural world brings more ‘rhyme and reason’ to my world and evolves at my easel. The expression of these experiences and observations is a lifelong challenge; my artwork is an invitation into that world as well as a tribute to the domestic animals that travel with us.
