Parents/Guardians are welcome to stay\, but it is not necessary. Meet in the A.B. Ceder Room. Space is limited. Children should be dressed for the weather with appropriate footwear. Bring a water bottle. Advanced registration is required. Space is limited! You can sign up by day or for the whole week. Please inquire about financial aid as needed. Members: $27/child per session or $100/child for the week. Non-members: $40/child per session or $150/child for the week \nThis program is now SOLD OUT.

DESCRIPTION:Friday\, April 17\, 2026 \nThis month’s talk topic is “Astronomy 001 – how the sky works”. Ever look at the sky and wonder why the stars rise in the East and set in the West?  For that matter\, why does the Sun rise in the East?  Why not the North\, or the West?  Why are there seasons? What’s an equinox\, anyway? Why is the Sun higher in the summer than in the winter?  This talk answers these and other questions. No prior knowledge of astronomy is required – just curiosity. \nStar parties at White Memorial are organized by the Litchfield Hills Amateur Astronomy Club.  The talk will be given whether it’s clear or cloudy.  Weather permitting\, there will be star gazing after the program at the observatory.  You are welcome to bring a telescope or binoculars.  Children under 16 must be accompanied by an adult. 8:00 p.m. A. B. Ceder Room \n  \nFREE… Donations will be accepted to help defray the Conservation Center’s programming expenses.
