Gerri Griswold leads a pleasant saunter up Wheeler Hill (behind the Campground Store) then over to the lovely trails of Old Camp Townshend along the shores of Bantam Lake. Townshend opened in 1940. By the end of the decade over 700 Girl Scouts visited the property. Wander this lovely short trail to visit its namesake. Today’s hikes are both along the Bantam River. After the White Oak Trail we’ll head to the Haight Parcel for our annual exploration of truly one of the lovliest hikes on our property. Wind your way through the old vineyard to the shore of Bantam River. Look out for ghost pipes and barred owls\, American Toads\, and Shag Bark Hickory Trees.
