Slab Meadow Trails
Slab Meadow was acquired in 2015, increasing the Foundation by 40 acres and almost 2 miles of trails. The trails, which were blazed in the fall of 2015, include several loop areas and a link to the Mattatuck Trail. The parcel is peppered with vernal pools teeming with amphibian life, and also features a beautiful overlook onto a nearby marsh. The mature oak stands promise to produce an abundance of other wildlife including Pileated Woodpeckers, Red-eyed Vireos, and Eastern Coyote. Trailheads are located on Slab Meadow Rd. in Morris, 1/2 mile east of S.R. 109. Trails are accessible for hiking, bicycling, cross-country skiing, horseback riding, but not motor vehicles. All other property usage rules apply.
