Vineyard/River Trail Loop

haight-trail

The Vineyard Trail, otherwise known as the Haight Parcel, begins on West Chestnut Hill Road. Starting through the gate and down the hill on an old, unpaved road (white blazes), you pass through an active vineyard (please do not eat grapes) and enter the woods. Continuing on, take a right onto the narrow River Trail (blue blazes), which takes you through a hemlock grove to Bantam River. The trail parallels the beautiful rocky portion of this river, unlike the slow meandering portions on other parts of the property. The trail then tees into the Vineyard Trail, where you can go right for 0.3 miles to a bridge overlooking the river, or left to continue back up the hill to your starting point. The loop hike is approximately 1 mile in length.
